artichoke, tomato & basil sauce
Making your own tomato sauce at home is a lot easier than you may think. Here is our version of a traditional marinara sauce with an artichoke twist.
ingredients:
- 1 jar (6.5 oz.) Cara Mia Marinated Artichoke Hearts, diced (reserve marinade)
- 4 tomatoes (diced) or 1 lb. Roma tomatoes, diced
- ¾ cup chopped fresh basil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
directions:
- In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped fresh basil and diced Cara Mia Marinate Artichoke hearts.
- Add minced garlic to the mixture. Mix in reserved marinade.
- Cover and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour to allow flavors to blend. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Keep in refrigerator for up to 3 days. Excellent on crackers, bread or tossed with pasta
