The Ultimate
Mediterranean Antipasto Platter
Did Someone Say Cheese?
Pick your favorite assortment of cheeses and get creative; feta cheese drizzled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, cubes of sharp cheddar cheese, a block of brie, crumbled feta with Sun Dried Tomatoes, and some Gouda cheese topped with your favorite spread. You really can’t go wrong with what you pick so let loose and be adventurous with your selection.
Hummus, Olives, and Artichokes
Add some Pimento Stuffed Manzanilla Olives, Garlic & Basil Marinated Olives, and some Classic Olives. Include some Marinated Artichokes and your choice of hummus. The saltiness of the olives will help offset some of the sweetness from the fruit and will taste delicious with aged cheese.
Meats
Cured, hard sausages are a great choice such as; pepperoni, salami (these can be peppered or spicy, which pairs great with sweet and savory). Other cuts such as; prosciutto and coppa are thinly sliced and can be found in almost any deli near you.
Fruits, Veggies, and Breads
Again, you can select any fruit and veggies of your preference, there’s no right or wrong answer here. Some commonly used fruits and vegetables you might want to try include; slices of pears, grapes, cantaloupe, cherry tomatoes, sliced carrots and sweet peppers. Using a variety of these fruits and veggies will add some color to your platter. Lastly, add sliced baguettes, crackers, or pita chips…make sure to add plenty of these varieties.
Arranging Your Platter
- Arrange the cheeses, meats, veggies, fruit, and bread on a large wooden serving board
- Put the hummus on a small serving dish (as well as the feta cheese or any crumbled cheeses)
- Set out cheese knives
- Put a small amount of all the foods and save the remaining to replenish as you need to
